HOW DOES IT WORK?
An LED is a semiconductor device. When powered, electrons move through the semiconductor material and some of them fall into a lower energy state. In the process, the energy "saved" is emitted as light. The wavelength (and color) of light can be adjusted using semiconductor materials and manufacturing processes different. Moreover, the wavelength of light emitted by the spread is relatively narrow, providing much more pure colors.
ADVANTAGES OF LED
Currently, most of the LED is made of traditional compound semiconductor materials such as gallium nitride (GaN). However, they begin to experience the LEDs made of organic materials (OLED). Those made of polymers (often called PLEDs or PoliLED) offer many of the advantages of LEDs and can be integrated into traditional light sources leaflets. |
